Blur “The Magic Whip”

Apparently recorded in parts – the vocals were added after the original Hong Kong sessions were knocked-into shape by Graham Coxon & producer Stephen Street, this is the album that almost never was. Twelve years after “Think Tank”, The Magic Whip is a hotpot of ideas – some of the songs feel a little sketchy, but the production is tight and it does hold the attention across the 12 tracks. We particularity love “Thought I Was a Spaceman”, “Pyongyang” and closer “Mirrorball”. 7/10
