U2 “Songs of Innocence”

·

We will ignore the whole delivery method and unpleasant corporate soul-selling with Apple for a second and focus on the album. And as expected, it’s neither a shocker or a game-changer. It is better than “No Line On the Horizon” and unusually for a U2 album has a strong finish (probably thanks to Danger Mouse on production duties – one of many). It’s pleasant listening experience throughout with a few highlights such as “Every Breaking Wave” and “The Troubles”. Having released the album as they have, one does wonder if they’ve burnt a bridge or two and what impact this has longer term for other artists? 7/10
