Katy B “Little Red”

A more straight-forward dance/pop affair than her debut, “Little Red” is nonetheless a mainstream success. With shades of Detroit techno (the superb “Next Thing”), 80’s disco (“Crying for No Reason”) and 90’s club music (“Everything”) – this offers a little something for everyone. However, after the bright opening, the record does sag with a little too much generic dance filler. BUT, dig out the Deluxe edition and you’ll find three belters: “Hot Like Fire”,  “Wicked Love” & “Sky’s the Limit” are superb. Why these nuggets weren’t included on the main album is anyone’s guess, but as a package, it certainly helps. 7/10
